Why teachers day celebrated in india?
05 September 2024
Teachers' Day in India is celebrated on September 5th every year to honor and recognize the contributions of teachers in shaping the minds of future generations. The day marks the birthday of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, a renowned Indian philosopher, statesman, and educationist who served as the second President of India from 1962 to 1967.
Dr. Radhakrishnan believed that "teachers should be the best minds in the country" and that they play a vital role in building the nation's future. When he became President, he was approached by his students to celebrate his birthday, but he requested them to celebrate it as Teachers' Day instead, to recognize the efforts of all teachers across the country.
Since then, September 5th has been celebrated as Teachers' Day in India, with events, ceremonies, and tributes to honor teachers and acknowledge their dedication, hard work, and influence on students' lives.
Education is the key to success in life, and teachers make a lasting impact in the lives of their students.
